Rush Makes Presence Known at Derby Cup!
Six Michigan Rush teams traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to participate in the 2008 Derby Cup. The soccer club made its presence known when all six teams made it to the finals of their divisions.
CONGRATULATIONS to the U10 Girls Nike team and the U11 Boys Nike team, both Champions of their age groups.

Rush Soccer to Host Trip to Spain in July 2008!
Join the Rush as they train and compete in Europe! This unique experience is available to all Rush members from Virginia to Hawaii. Teams will be formed in the following age groups.
Boys: 1991, 1992 and 1993

Under 12 Boys Swoosh Win MASC Tournament!
The U12 Boys Swoosh team participated in the Mid-American Soccer Classic Tournament in Cincinnati during the weekend of April 5th & 6th and returned to Northville as Champions. On the road to the finals the Swoosh team tasted victory against Farmington Flash (2 – 1) and Toledo Football Club (3 – 1). The showdown for a place in the final saw Rush facing local rivals Dearborn Athletic. Played in the morning sunshine it proved to be a thoroughly entertaining game of soccer. With a slightly better goal difference the Dearborn team only needed a tie to progress, Swoosh needed the win. At half time, Swoosh were leading, thanks to a goal from Scott Zurawski, but Dearborn pulled level on a penalty kick 10 minutes into the second half. Peter Arton managed to get a hand to the kick but couldn’t quite keep it out. The Swoosh team really took the game to Dearborn and piled on the pressure looking for the goal that would win the game…….and fortunately it came with almost the last kick of the game when Angelo Zannis burst through and coolly slotted the ball past the Dearborn keeper to send Michigan Rush into the finals.
What a thrilling game, with two committed teams playing some extremely good soccer. Unfortunately, the Final game didn’t reach the excitement levels that the previous game had with the Rush team running our comfortable 3 – 0 winners, with goals coming from Brian Smith, Jack Ellis and Dwight Hansell.
Under 11 Boys Swoosh Bring Home the Hardware!
Competing in the Mid-American Soccer Classic outside Cincinnati April 5th-6th, the Michigan Rush Boys U11 Swoosh went 4-0 on their way to capturing their division championship. Displaying beautiful team and individual soccer throughout the event, the boys defeated quality sides from across Ohio. In group play, they bested WASA Global 5-0, Columbus East FC 4-1, and Toledo Football Academy 3-0. Against a tough Arsenal SC team from Zanesville, OH, the Swoosh team took the championship game 4-1. Congratulations to the boys on a great weekend run!
Under 10 Boys Nike Go Undefeated at the Blue Chip Hammer Cup!
Competing in the Blue Chip Hammer Cup in Cincinatti, Ohio the U10 Boys Nike continued their winning ways going 4 and 0 on their way to yet another tournament victory. Playing convincing yet attractive soccer the boys handled their opponents by scores of 8 -3, 7-1, 4-3 and a nail bitting overtime thriller of 1-0. The U10 Boys Nike Team is looking forward to a successful spring season!
Michigan Rush Sweep Vulcan Cup!
Over the weekend of March 8th and 9th, the U13 Girls Nike and the U14 Girls Nike traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the Vulcan Cup. The Vulcan Cup is the Southeast's premier tournament for the month of March and boasts teams from across the country. Both teams enjoyed tremendous success over the weekend by bringing home championships in their respective divisions.
The U13 Girls Nike cruised through group play with three wins (4-0 BUSA Select Red, AL, 1-0 Lady Hurricanes Black, TN, and 2-0 AFU Gold, GA). As the group winner, the team advanced to the finals to face off against PSA, TN. The game proved to be very competitive as the Rush came out with the victory on penalties for a final score of 2-1.
The U14 Girls Nike also proved to be too much for its opponents, as the team went undefeated through group play (3-0 KFC Chelsea Blue, TN, 3-0 Lafreniere Sting, LA, and 1-1 Strictly Soccer Select, FL). Advancing to the final, the U14 Girls Nike took the field against a strong Mandeville Lakers team. Once again, the girls from the Rush proved too strong for the opponent coming away with a convincing 2-0 victory.
