Rush Soccer Inks Relationship with Auxerre of French Ligue 1

Rush Soccer is very excited to announce its partnership with AJ Auxerre of the French Ligue 1. Rush President and CEO, Tim Schulz, is absolutely thrilled to be partnered with such a respected club as AJ Auxerre. "The partnership could not be a better fit for the Rush. Auxerre has embraced the Rush and its membership. The Rush leaders are looking for a long-term relationship with an emphasis on prividing an opportunity for that special Rush player to someday wear the Auxerre jersey. Rush soccer has a history of developing MLS and National Team players. Can we place one on the AJ Auxerre first team? Both clubs feel that it is only a matter of time," Schulz stated on the new partnership.

Jerome De Bontin, a well known figure in French Football and a member on the Rush Board of Directors, orchestrated the partnership with the French giant. Auxerre are famous throughout Europe, their success at the highest level being unprecedented for a club from such a small town (under 40,000). Auxerre are also the only team from the top flight in France to have never been relegated.

This is truly a great partnership for all involved. AJ Auxerre gains access to the entire talent pool of Rush Soccer, over 35,000 strong, while the American club now has the backing of one of Europe's top clubs! Below: Tim Schulz with AJ Auxerre executives.

AJ Auxerre Finish 3rd, Champions League Qualification Lies Ahead

(Members of AJA celebrate their win on Saturday May 15. The win ensures a return to major European futbol for AJA)

A 2-1 win over Sochaux on Saturday, along with a loss by Lille, put AJ Auxerre into a third place finish in the French Ligue 1. The third place finish gives Auxerre a birth in the qualifying stages for the 2010-2011 UEFA Champions League.

The cardiac kids from Auxerre ended the season on as dramatic a note as possible. Cedric Hengbart's game-winning goal in the 90th minute saw AJA leapfrog Lille into 3rd place.

To qualify for the Champions League, Auxerre will play a 2-leg playoff against a team to be determined by early round qualification games. These playoff games will take place 17-18 and 24-25 of August.

Great job Auxerre! Rush Soccer is thrilled to be partners with one of Europe’s best!

Auxerre Fall Late to Lyon, Champions League Still In Play

(05.06.10)

A late second half goal by Lyon’s Miralem Pjanic was enough to give Lyon a 2-1 victory over visiting AJ Auxerre.  Visiting AJA created several chances early including a hit post. AJA managed to break through and opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game when leading scorer Ireneusz Jelen stepped in front of a Lyon pass and finished his chance. Lyon would equalize just before halftime when AJA was called for a foul in the box and Lyon’s Lisandro Lopez put away his shot from the PK Spot. Lyon kept the pressure on in the second half and Auxerre’s league leading defense eventually cracked with Pjanic’s winner. The loss drops AJA into a second place tie with Lille, who holds the tiebreaker with more wins on the season. With two games remaining, Lille must still face Ligue 1 champions Marseille. A top two finish gives AJA an automatic Champions League birth while a third place finish would put AJA into Champions League qualifying rounds. If they drop to fourth, they would qualify for the Europa League. AJA will face Lens on Saturday.
